postheadericon Father Knows Best: Instilling Vintage Values In Your Kids

Stylish Vintage Baby loves all things vintage including vintage values. Children with a strong character are better equipped for handling issues like bullying and resisting negative influences. When parents work to instill timeless values foundational to character development, children grow up with a positive value system, allowing them to grow into happier people and better citizens.

Some parents think that it's too early to teach values to a toddler or preschooler, but research shows that these values can be instilled in children before their fifth birthday and it is possible to make them stick.

What are some of the key foundational values to help build your child's character?

  • Kindness, compassion & empathy
  • Gratitude, forgiveness & honesty
  • Integrity, patience & confidence
  • Responsibility, generosity & determination
  • Openness, fairness & confidence

How can parents instill these values in their children?

  • Model the behavior in everyday life and teach by example.
  • Get your child involved in community endeavors and volunteer work.
  • Show respect for authority.
  • Apologize and make amends when the need arises.
  • Talk to your children and openly share your emotions.
  • Set boundaries, communicate expectations and set limits.
